Before changing the author of posts on WordPress, there are a few things you should know.

If you have multiple users as an Author or editor on your website, and you want to show your name on the posts written by others, you can follow the steps in this article.

How to Change the Author of a Single post in WordPress

Go to the post or page where you want to update the name of the author.

Go to the WordPress Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Look for your post which you want to edit > Click on edit

Change the author of a post in the classic editor.

If you are using a classic editor, you can follow this path to change the author.

Post edit page > Screen Options ( Upper Right Corner) > Author . Once you checked the author option, you can see the author name drop-down section in the last of the editor section. In the Author drop-down, you can see the list of authors.

Now select the new author from the drop-down list.

Once you select the new author, click on the update button or save to draft to save the changes. That’s it, and now the author is changed in the post.

Post edit page > Select “Post” from the right sidebar > find the author in the first section with the name of “Status & Visibility.”

Select the author from the drop-down. After selection, click on the update button.

It’s done now.

Change the author from the All Posts page in the WordPress dashboard.

You can change the author of posts without open the post editor. Go to the WordPress Dashboard and follow the steps.

Posts > All Posts > Quick edit > Select Author from drop-down list > Update

How to Change the Author of WordPress posts in bulk

You can change the author of all posts at one time in WordPress. Or, if you want to change the author of multiple selected posts, you can easily do this by following these steps.

WordPress Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Select posts by using checkboxes on the left side of every post ( to select all posts at one time click on all select check box ) > Edit ( bulk action drop-down ) > Apply

You will see the bulk editor, go to the author drop-down and select the author name. Don’t forget to click on the update button.

If you find no author option, then go to the screen option and select author by click on the check box.

By default, WordPress show “20 posts per page”. To update the number of posts on one page, click on Screen Option ( Upper right corner) and update the numbers from the “Number of items per page” option. 

Hide or Remove the Author of a post in WordPress

It’s possible if you want to hide or remove the author from the post. You might be the only one who writes for your site, or you might want your visitors to focus on your articles.

By adding a simple CSS code in external CSS

WordPress Dashboard > Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS > paste CSS code in code editor > Publish

After following these steps, you can check that your author is not removed from the posts.

Remove author meta and date from the posts with a plugin.

I am not recommending plugins to hide authors because plugins make your site heavy. And it may affect the SEO of your site.

But, if you want to hide or remove the author from the post, you can use WP Meta and Date Remover plugin.

Once you install and activate this plugin, this plugin will hide author metadata and date from all the posts.

But, You can hide author meta and date from specific or individual posts. To apply this functionality, you need to go to the settings of this plugin.

WordPress dashboard > Settings > WP Meta and Date Remover > Enable
